Ergonomics refers to the study of people in their workplace. Our physical therapists at Boise Physical Therapy 180 are able to provide tips and modification ideas to your workplace to improve your ability to work pain-free. We also consider our patients biomechanics (how they move) at work, especially when repeated tasks are being performed. Repetitive work movements can often lead to overuse injuries, just like in sports. We often refer to our patients who have been injured at work as “industrial athletes” and aim to find ways to help them move better and teach them tactics to reduce the risk of further injury. With sedentary or active jobs, faulty posture and movement patterns may cause injury to the neck, jaw, upper back, lower back, shoulders, forearm, wrist, and hand.
Besides pain management, some benefits of addressing workplace ergonomics may include increased productivity, injury prevention, and improved employee satisfaction. At Boise Physical Therapy 180 we evaluate your work duties and performance and are able to identify solutions to meet your unique needs. Whether it be tips on sitting or standing posture, adjusting chairs or monitors, rearranging the workspace, or providing specific exercises, we are here to help you get back to work pain free!
