Direct Access

Direct Access

Did you know that most Physical Therapists are Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT)? Physical Therapists are now recognized by consumers and other healthcare professionals as the practitioners of choice to whom consumers have direct access for the diagnoses of, interventions for, and prevention of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities related to movement, function, and health (APTA, 2020). Direct access allows for patient empowerment and gives you more control over your healthcare journey. Did you know that Idaho is one of 20 states that allows patients total, unrestricted access to a Physical Therapist without a prescription or referral from a physician? In Idaho this applies to most commercial health insurance plans, aside from Medicare and Medicaid. At Boise Physical Therapy 180, we want you to know that direct access allows for quicker access to one of our seasoned Physical Therapists and thus, quicker resolution of your pain or injury. Direct access may reduce your healthcare costs and save you time from seeing multiple providers or receiving unnecessary diagnostic testing.
